What’s going on?


Paige has recently had some pain in her right hip. Initially attributed to a pulled muscle, she went to an orthopedic specialist as the pain worsened, around the beginning of February. Eventually, an MRI was done which showed a lesion on her ilium (a bone in your pelvis). Due to her history of breast cancer just 2 years ago, a PET scan was recommended, followed up by a biopsy. The results are in; her breast cancer has metastasized to her bone. This confirmation of cancer invading her body again came in just one day before her 28th birthday. 


What now? 


Paige has been in communication with an oncologist in Denver and has reached out to her original oncologist from Columbus. She has been referred to a radiation oncologist. The plan right now is to start with 3 strong doses of radiation. Her doctor has a strong feeling that targeted radiation can knock this lesion out, but radiation is just the first part of treatment for Paige. She will need to suppress hormone production in her body, since her cancer feeds off the Estrogen she produces. This can be done two ways: The first option would be to take a monthly injection (she did this therapy in 2016 and couldn’t tolerate how sick it made her feel). The second option would be to stop her body’s ability to produce hormones via surgery. 


Paige needs to move back to Cleveland to be closer to a healthcare system that she feels comfortable with and the support of her family and friends. The move and Paige's treatment are both going to come with a lot of expenses, especially considering she will be at least temporarily without insurance and income.


We ask for your generosity once again to help support our girl as she faces yet another fight of a lifetime. I thought she was strong the first time she kicked cancer's ASS, but I have never seen strength, perseverance, grace, and positivity like I’ve seen in my beautiful sister since her new diagnosis. She needs our help to pay for healthcare, living expenses, and to help maintain some level of comfort while she fights this fight.
