Pressestimmen:
Times of India

Press comments:
“Pah-Lak is performed by an ensemble of Tibetan actors, which lends rare and breath-taking power and authenticity to the work”
Times of India

“PAH LAK is an intense, authentic and powerful play that creates awareness about the situation in Tibet and the potential of non-violence to counter oppression.”
Mumbai Theatre Guide

This crowdfunding campaign is organized by the Tibet Initiative Deutschland e.V. and the Gesellschaft Schweizerisch-Tibetische Freundschaft.

"Pah-lak" is a play about today's Tibet and the future of non-violence. It is based on the key question: is non-violence still relevant in a world, where most revolutions have taken a violent turn?

Since the annexation of Tibet in 1950, Tibetans have been struggling to preserve their identity, which is being systematically erased by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Since 1974, the 14th Dalai Lama has advocated the mutually beneficial "Middle Way", which envisions a non-violent resolution of the Tibet situation through recognition as a genuine autonomous region of China. The striving for complete independence is nevertheless deeply rooted in Tibetan society.

The play "Pah-lak" gives insight into the hopes and longings of the Tibetan people. It addresses the role of Buddhism in the lives of Tibetans and the contradictions of a resistance movement that has emerged from decades of oppression, discrimination and marginalization. "Pah-lak" means "father" in Tibetan.

The Tibetan director and head of the Tibet Theatre Lhakpa Tsering, the German theater director Harry Fuhrmann and playwright Abhishek Majumdar produced the new production of "Pah-lak" with Tibetan actors.

The play will be performed in Tibetan and translated with surtitles. On the one hand, this offers the Tibetan actors the opportunity to deal with their own language in a theatrical context, and on the other hand, it helps to convey to the audience the urgency of protecting the Tibetan language, which is threatened with extinction by the Chinese government's sinicization efforts.

We at the Tibet Initiative Deutschland e.V. are organizing the European tour of "Pah-lak", which will initially take place in Germany and Switzerland, in cooperation with the Gesellschaft Schweizerisch-Tibetische Freundschaft and Ruhrfestspiele Recklinghausen.

For the fees of the directors, author, translators, the production team, the stage design, as well as travel and transport costs, we urgently need your donations! Every amount counts and helps us to financially support the organization of the tour.

Please keep in mind that the artists and the production team will travel through Germany and Switzerland for two months and perform in 10 cities in both countries. This results in high costs, which we as organizing associations cannot bear alone. Therefore, we urgently need your donations.

Thank you very much.
