PAGE AND JIM HOUSE FIRE RECOVERY FUND
Help for a retired teacher and a Navy veteran

THE STORY.  At approximately 6:30 p.m. on November 28, 2017, Page heard a noise on the front porch and went to investigate. She encountered a quickly growing blaze and ran to the phone to call 911. Before she could complete the call, the flames had entered the house, climbed the wall, and were moving across the ceiling. She dropped the phone, grabbed one of her dogs, Chico, and rushed out the back door in a rain of firey embers, Jim following closely behind her. They narrowly escaped with only the clothes on their back. Each suffered minor burns but are otherwise unscathed. However, their home burned to the ground and took with it at least 4 of their cats and 2 of their dogs.

Page, our mother, is a retired teacher. She and Jim, a Navy veteran, live on a piece of land in a rural community where they raise goats, operate a collectables business, adopt elderly and disabled pets from the local shelter, and volunteer at the local food distribution program.

They are involved in local gardening, enviromental, and community groups, and take food to hikers along the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail (and clear away trash from the area). They are parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents and are always available to help someone in need. Now, they are the ones who are in need.

Their desire is to stay put, not to relocate, and to continue to be part of their local community.

THE GOAL is to raise funds to help them replace their modest home on their land in the community of which they have become such a vital part. They are grateful for the genorosity of a neighbor who has opened her home to them and they are setting up a small travel trailer on their property to live in temporarily so they can stay near their animals.

We are hoping to raise enough to help them through this immediate time of need and to help them make progress toward securing a new place to live on their land (a trailer, mobile home, or small modular house).

Will you please help? A donation of any size will be appreciated and well used. Thank you in advance for your kindness and generosity.
