PADS Publication for new & expectant parents

Positive about Down syndrome is delighted to be publishing a book that will challenge perceptions, address outdated attitudes, bust myths and show the world the reality about having a child with Down syndrome in modern Britain.

The publication will reflect the lives and experiences of a wide range of people with Down syndrome and their families.  We will tackle head on the inaccurate outdated images and information often presented to potential, expectant and new parents in order that people understand the truth about Down syndrome.

We are looking to our community to crowdfund to contribute towards the design and production costs.  As well as people helping financially to produce this book, we are also keen to provide the opportunity for your family member with Down syndrome to feature in the publication by including an image for all contributors.   

If you would like your family member to feature in the publication, we need you to send a clear, good quality head shot of your family member with Down syndrome to [email redacted].  By sending this image you confirm that you have the right/permission of the individual to provide this image and are giving us the right to use the image in PADS publications/social media etc.  Please ensure the photo is only of your child/young person and is of sufficient quality to be published.  We will include all contributors in a grid format with thumbnail images similar to header but without text/any overlay.

We ask for a minimum donation of £10.  If you would like a copy of the publication posting to you, a minimum donation of £15 is requested and a UK postal address must be provided in the email with the photograph.  It is imperative that you include in the email the name used to make the donation so we can cross reference emails and donations.  We envisage distributing the book end March/early April but we are a group of volunteers so do please bear with us!
