Paddling is Life

Aloha Family & Friends!
As you may know, I've always put my heart, soul, sweat, blood and tears into our Hawaiian sport of outrigger canoe paddling. Exactly One Year ago, I have finally completed a childhood goal by competing in the most prestigious outrigger canoe race with 8 other men called the Molokaʻi Hoe. My goal was to bring our sport in the light of many eyes not to familiar with it, and by doing that our story was featured on an international level by winning ViSalus' Body By Vi Challenge Showdown.

(On Stage in front of over 20,000 people at the NFL's St. Louis Rams Edward Jones Dome, accepting an award for my story about my team's Molokaʻi Hoe Journey in 2012.)

This year I have set my mind on yet another Challenge which is the 2014-2015 OC1 Season:

And to wrap this season up in 2015, there is an event called the "Kaiwi Solo OC1 World Championship". which is held in the same channel which stretches 40+ Miles in between the island of Molokaʻi and Oʻahu. It is known as one of the toughest ocean channels in the world.

My Story...
I am Samuel K. Kapoi, born and raised in a small rural town called, Waiʻanae on the island of Hawaiʻi. Went through the public school system at Waiʻanae Elem., Inter. and High. Went off to college, earned a Bachelors Degree in Digital Filmmaking & Video Production. I am an independent filmmaker by trade,

I am involved with many non-profit organizations within my community and I am a promoter of the #1 Health & Fitness Challenge in the world called the Body By Vi 90-Day Challenge. On my "off-time" I like to train to keep my mind focused and body in good physical shape to be prepared for whatever life has in store for me.

Like my page title reads, "Paddling is Life", I take that to the heart. Anything to do with the ocean is near and dear to me, and paddling is my way to raise awareness for many things that has to do with the ocean.

The Reason...
I paddle because I love my Hawaiian culture. I also paddle to inspire anyone and everyone that is in need of inspiration or motivation to get active and live a healthier lifestyle. My main target to inspire is my Son, my child on the way and of course my entire family. I love to share my life experiences by showing someone, rather then telling them. Hands on learning is how I learn and naturally the way I teach, which I plan on doing to whoever is willing to learn.

(My Little ʻOhana, My Son, Kū and Wahine, Saydee.)

I will also be partnering with organizations within my community to raise funds to support ocean learning and activities for kids in Hawaiʻi. In particular, Nā Kalai Waʻa O Waiʻanae which is apart of the Waiʻanae Hawaiian Civic Club who stewards a voyaging canoe called, E ALA. And another organization called, Waʻalolimau which means "The Ever Evolving Canoe" whose mission is simply what it's name sake is by teaching our community everything there is about a Hawaiian canoe and how we can improve ourselves as Hawaiians by way of the canoe.

My Call For YOUR Help...
I am looking to raise enough money to equip myself with the right tools to complete this goal. Pictured here:
Is the latest and greatest OC-1 Canoe built by Kamanu Composties called, "PUEO", which means Owl in ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi (Hawaiian Language). Which will take a few months to be built, So I'm on a major time crunch to get the funding needed to get this canoe built so I can compete in the races listed above.

Reward Levels:
Below are reward levels. Any amount is VERY much appreciated, however I will go the extra distance for those who choose any of those reward levels.
Any organizations or businesses that are willing to partner/sponsor me in this journey will get YOUR LOGO on the canoe for an entire YEAR. Any monies that surpasses my goal will be donated to the E ALA Sailing program listed above.

MAHALO NUI FOR YOUR TIME & SUPPORT.
STAY BLESSED!

Me Ke Aloha,
Samuel K. Kapoi
