IYA SALAMAT, A PACEMAKER FOR LIFE

My cousin, Rizza Mae Salamat, recently turned 27 of age, was born with a hole in her heart. Apparently, as she gets oldeR, the hole got smaller and eventually ended up with a new heart problem. She has been back and fourth with the heart specialist and always get the same result. The result is 3rd Degree Atrio Ventricular Block or Complete Heart Block. She needs a Pacemaker - it's a small device that's placed in the chest to help control abnormal heart rhythms.

Now she easily gets tired and have a hard time breathing. She can't do any normal jobs, nor do normal activities for an adult her age. Doctors told her she could die in her sleep, with the lowest hearbeat occuring while sleeping. She can't be too tired, too sad, too angry nor too happy.

Iya is a happy soul despite of her condition. She is free-spirited, loving and caring. She always wanted to enjoy life and see nature's wonder. She is an explorer-  she wanted to study astronomy and be a Science communicator and make the world a better place for the next generation. She also loves being around with her family and take good care of them.
