Well, I held it together a lot longer than I thought I could, but it finally hit me. Dang it if we didn’t have our moments. Sometimes you drove me straight to insanity. Sometimes you annoyed the living crap right out of me. Sometimes you were the queen of all. We yelled, we screamed. There were times we thought we absolutely hated each other. Looking back, there were always more good times than bad. No one is perfect, but you made me the strong-willed, take-no-crap butthole that I am today, and I’ll never forget that. I might be 42 years old, but I just had to become an adult today, and I’m so terrified. I honestly have no idea how to live life without you physically here, but I feel you watching over me. Everyone loses their parents, but I lost my best friend, my psychiatrist, my doctor, my rock, and nothing in your entire life prepares you for that moment. I thought when I lost my father that I couldn’t handle it, but your mother is an entirely different person to lose. I hope that I make you proud. I hope that you know despite all our disagreements that no matter what, I always loved you. I will always love you. I hope that you are somewhere out there watching out for me. Most importantly, I hope that you finally are resting in peace and walking hand in hand somewhere above the clouds with Dad. Today I lost my rock, and now it’s time for me to grow up. I’m sorry for all the things I did to let you down. None of it was your fault, and wherever you are, just know that Tator is super pissed he doesn’t get his late-night peanut butter bones, and he said he will be holding you accountable in his afterlife, so I certainly hope you have a peanut butter bone store in heaven. As a small business owner and someone who, due to prior conditions, could not get insurance on our mother, the medical bills totaling over 1.7 million alone with funeral costs we just can’t afford this. Anything helps.
