My best friend of 30 years, Matt has stage 3 cancer of the body. For the past year we've been struggling to make ends meet as medical expenses, transportation (multiple trips to the VA in Roseburg & one trip to the Seattle Cancer Center), pain management & prescription costs have drained our bank accounts & our emotional & mental reserves. During that time, Matt has endured rounds of chemotherapy & radiation & countless procedures, tests, transfusions, infusions & scans. During one of these procedures, a machine malfunctioned & he now has radiation poisoning that has taken years off his life & has led to detrimental harm to his heart & other vital organs.

We're asking our community to help us during this stressful time when all we should be focusing on is Matt's health & recovery.

His friendly nature & upbeat attitude brings a smile to everyone who knows him & even those he doesn't, as Matt is the first person to help a stranger who's down on their luck. From helping a mother with kids fix a flat tire on the side of the road to working with the Union Gospel Mission and the Life Bible Church of Harrisburg , OR donating time & energy handing out & cooking food for those in need, Matt is always thinking of others before himself.
