As some of you may know, it has been an extremely trying past several weeks for Brenna Weewie. Over the past several years, Brenna and her husband Jesse have been trying to start a family with no success. In the beginning of May 2012 their doctor decided to perform a procedure that he hoped would help with conception, and at that time he decided also to check the cells of Brenna's uterus. Several days later the news came. Cancer. At this point no one was sure how advanced it was or what the prognosis would be. Brenna was sent to an oncologist who said she would do what was needed in order for Brenna and Jesse to have a family, but first a MRI was needed. In the middle of May Brenna had a MRI, though unfortunately the results didn't come in right away and the waiting was miserable. Unknown to Brenna at the time her Oncologist was soliciting multiple opinions on Brenna's condition, because the results didn't make sense. The cancer was extremely aggressive and had made its way through 95% of the uterine wall. An emergency Radical Hysterectomy was order. Brenna prepared as best she could for the news that they would need to remove her Ovaries, Uterus, and Cervix. Last week Brenna was able to go to the Pacific Northwest Fertility Center in Seattle with hopes of harvesting her eggs with the plans of starting family via surrogacy. The Center is requesting an additional two weeks to get viable eggs. Currently at this time Brenna is unsure if her Oncologist will be willing to risk those two weeks.
As her sister, the hardest thing for me is not being able to take away this cancer from Brenna. So, I thought I would help try to ease the financial burden on her, and so I have started this fund in the hopes that every little bit counts and may be of some help and comfort to her and Jesse. She does so much for so many people and I would like to ask all of you to help Brenna and Jesse as they go through these truly trying times. Thank you in advance!
