Ashley is a 33 year old mother, wife and friend. She works hard and has difficulty asking others for help - she’s the person that would prefer to be helping others than asking for help herself. After a long battle with stage 3 colorectal cancer, where Ashley has completed Radiation with chemotherapy, along with more chemotherapy as well as a major surgery, abdominal perineal resection, that leaves her with a permanent Ostomy. Ashley was looking forward to hearing that her follow CT scans were clear, and that she no longer had evidence of disease, when instead she heard the words that no one should ever hear “stage 4 cancer that has metastasized to the lungs”.
Ashley has undergone another six rounds of more and new chemotherapy - all while working nightshifts and being a momma and wife during the day. The next step to her treatment is two lung resection surgeries where they will operate and remove the nodules in her lungs. Two surgeries, weeks apart, means that Ashley will have to take more time off than expected from work while she recovers. She is slowly regaining medical leave days as she used her max disability days battling cancer the first time. Unfortunately she has had no choice but to take days almost as soon as they are coming back due to chemo and associated side effects. This is putting her job in jeopardy. She was struggling to save days to cover for 1 surgery before she told she would be needing a separate surgery for each lung, weeks apart. Her husband lost his job due to downsizing and covid. He recently started a new job and despite jumping through hoops, he is unable to add her to his insurance for 2 years. If an exception is made, the surgeries won't be covered due to this being a pre-existing condition.

She is struggling to hold it all together and maintain being the many things she has to be for her family. She has debated ceasing treatment so that she can continue working, because she is terrified of what happens if she can't work, or loses her job, even if it means she will be tragically and unnecessarily shortening her life. The purpose of this gofundme is to lessen the never ending anxiety and stress of how she is going to pay for her surgery if she loses her job, and also how she is going to pay her bills (even if she keeps her job), recovering from 2 surgeries.
One thing that keeps her going is the dwindling hope that at least after this she may be cancer free.... finally. Then she is told that on her pre surgery scan she has 2 more nodules. One will come out with an original nodule, and the other will be watch and wait. So when this is over, it may or may not actually be over, but we need her to have the means to continue fighting.

This girl is someone that deserves the absolute world. She definitely deserves to be able to finally live a cancer free life and spend time watching her little boy grow up.
Shares and donations are beyond appreciated at this time. Being out of work will not only effect Ashley financially, but emotionally as well. I am hoping that this gofundme can help relieve some of that stress, help with childcare, food, medical expenses and bills. Ashley has fought so hard and asked so little from her friends and community - it is now our time to step up and show her that she is surrounded by love and support. Again, all shares and donations are beyond appreciated and make the biggest difference in Ashley’s “journey”.
