Billelica's Heart Transplant Journey
Donation protected
In 2016, Billelica discovered that she had some irregularities in her heart. In 2018, after many battles, she was fitted with a defibrillator implant. However, just 6 years later, she is at a point where she needs a heart transplant. At the moment, only 10% of her heart is functioning. She was admitted to Tampa General Hospital on November 12, 2024. She has had many tests and had a Impella (heart pump) implant placed. It keeps the heart functioning in two situations: during percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI) and after cardiogenic shock. Cardiogenic shock is a life-threatening event when the heart can’t pump enough blood to the body.
