Help us get to Dad's funeral

One week ago, Sunday, August 13, 2017, our Dad passed away just shy of his 53rd birthday. This was very sudden and completely unexpected.
On Friday, August 11th, he was taken into surgery to repair an issue with his aortic valve. The procedure is called valve sparing or "Tirone David". He was told by his doctor that this issue is something he was born with. This was surprising to all of us because he played ice hockey most of his young life and had no issues. It was only after his doctor performed a stress test, due to high blood pressure, that it was discovered. Although we were concerned, Dad seemed confident and assured us that he would be fine. He told us that he would talk to us on Sunday when he was feeling better. Sadly, we never had that conversation. Little did we know that our conversations with our Dad the morning of his surgery, would be the last we would ever have. On Sunday, instead of receiving the call we were waiting for, I awoke to a phone call from my Uncle, saying how sorry he was to tell me that my Dad had just passed away. As you can imagine, we are shocked and devastated. We have no answers as to what went wrong. We couldn't even drive to see him because his surgery took place in Switzerland, where he lives. We now need to make the journey to Switzerland to attend our Dad's service and say our good byes. This is a long and costly journey for our family. We are asking for your help to get us to our Dad's service on August 31st.
We think of all the big events he will miss in our lives: college graduations, weddings and grandchildren. This is heartbreaking for us.
