Symphony Album Release

Donation protected
I am a young composer from California who recently graduated with my Master of Music degree from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. I am extremely passionate about music and the positive impact that it can have on people and society as a whole!

My first symphony "What are you doing here, Elijah?" has the opportunity to be professionally recorded by the Janacek Philharmonic Orchestra based in the Czech Republic with PARMA Recordings and released as a stand alone album on Naxos Records. The work will be distributed both digitally worldwide and physically across North America. This is an incredible opportunity that could kickstart my compositional career in amazing ways and spread awareness for the importance of contemporary orchestral music by female composers.

All of the funds I receive will go straight to the costs of the recording, including payment for the seventy musicians involved, mixing, post-production, marketing and promotions, and flight costs for me to attend the recording sessions in the Czech Republic. My goal is to raise the money, both in grants and crowdfunding, by May 2020. I would greatly appreciate any and all support and help to make this lifelong dream of bringing joy and love into the world through the music I write a reality!

Want to know more about the piece and why I am so passionated about it? "What are you doing here, Elijah?" is split into four movements, involving an entire seventy piece orchestra and a narrator, and it began first as a scribbled sketch in my notebook months before I put any notes on paper. I was reading in 1 Kings in the Bible, and I was struck by the beautiful imagery of a pivotal point in Elijah's life. Elijah was a prophet of God who at this point in his ministry was being persecuted for the prophecies that he was telling. In this passage, Elijah has just run away from his persecutors and to a cave on the mountain of Horeb. While there, the word of the Lord comes to him and tells him to stand before the Lord. There is a strong wind, a mighty earthquake, and a blazing fire, but the Lord is not in any of these. Finally, there is a still small voice in which is the presence of the Lord. Each movement of this piece encapsulates one of these phenomenal events. I have always loved the story of Elijah, and I was inspired by this particular moment in his life because God fully demonstrates His power over the earth and elements, yet He chooses to approach Elijah in such a gentle manner, asking him the simple question that can ultimately be asked of us all: what are you doing here, Elijah?
