Vanderbilt Avenue Moravian Church is a culturally diverse Christ-centered church with a prominent footprint in the North Shore community of Staten Island, New York since 1889. Through dynamic worship and compassionate leadership and service, we serve the community through our generous caring ministries such as the Giving Library, Thanksgiving and holiday food drives, Youth Music Ministry, the Women of Grace Ministry and the Monthly Community Dinners that has been feeding 130 to 150 individuals in need for the past 10 years.
Even with a water and mold issue which has severely damaged our church fellowship hall, our members were determined to host the monthly meals to feed the community from our Pastor’s basement, despite space and other limitations. The absence of our fellowship hall forced us to shelve many important ministries to help our at-risk youths such as community workshops, sports training, clothing drives and other social functions.
Our members are determined to restore the entire building, and have embarked on several fund-raising initiatives towards the complete renovation of this legendary establishment, which is estimated to cost around $550,000. This fund will enhance the way we provide our ministries, and better access to a kitchen where meals can be prepared on a larger scale to alleviate the intrusion at the pastor’s residence. Also, due to the age of the building, we must renovate and modernize the interior of the building to ensure accessibility to the aging and disabled population we now serve. To date, we have raised $25,000, but we are desperately in need of your help to accomplish this goal.
