As many of you may know... this past week a tragic accident took the lives of our beloved friend, David Hosch, and one of our precious foster dogs, Annabelle. David’s transition from this life to the next happened while he was doing what he loved best -- driving Annabelle to a vet appointment. Words can’t describe what he meant to us, to others in the rescue community, and to many throughout the world. We needed to do something to honor him.
During the past year, we partnered with the city of Osawatomie, KS to renovate their pound into a beautiful new shelter. While the conditions prior to this new venture were not ADA accessible David never let that stop him from helping and transporting all the animals there.
In his honor we are going to transform the dilapidated metal structure into an ADA accessible, welcoming home for lost, stray, and abandoned dogs and cats, In addition, we will dedicate the newly renovated dog wing to David as the “Sunflower Suites” in honor of his business, Sunflower Animal Transport. We will also dedicate the first kennel to Annabelle -- who loved David enough to make sure he didn’t cross the rainbow bridge alone. She did for him what he did for so many sweet souls. We were blessed to have him on this earth with us.
After meeting with the architects and incredible construction crew, we discovered we are about $50,000 shy of building this new addition/renovation.
Please help us honor David and Annabelle’s lives with a donation -- no matter how large or small. Help us build a safe, secure, comfortable, loving refuge for the homeless pets he desperately loved.
David gave his heart and soul to all the animals and humans he loved. This is our small way of making sure his memory and love live forever.
And when life seems impossible and overwhelmingly hard, follow David's example: always face your heart to the sun.
