Repopulate Great South Bay w Oyster

Hello all,
I am writing to you today to ask for a simple donation for my up-and-coming Eagle Scout project. This project will benefit everyone as it helps to ensure safer and cleaner waters for our seas, oceans, habitats, and benefit the world and the entirety of mankind. Over the last 6 years, my oysters have grown to 3-5 inches long. My project is to raise these oysters and put them in special cages so that they can
float in the summer and survive on the bottom in the winter. (In the winter the bottom is warmer and ice doesn't affect them). We have a large population (600-700) and these oysters will clean between 20-50 gallons of water each day. The goal is to plant 1000 oysters to clean 20,000-50,000 gallons of water per day. The bigger the oyster, the more water it will filter out. After five years, the oyster becomes a female to start the process of reproduction. This allows for a speedy supply of spat or oyster seeds to be created. I am asking for a total of $1,000 in donations. This money will allow us to purchase the permits and the parts needed to build and install the oyster cages. The oyster population has declined in New York. Many years ago, New York was the oyster capital of the east coast. Due to over farming, habitat loss, and water pollution, the oyster population has greatly declined. With your small donation, we will be able to purchase the parts we need to build floating and submersible cages, enabling the oysters to grow and thrive in the South Shore of Long Island and Shinnencock Bay, home to the First Nations people who found sustenance on living with oyster protein and fishing as a way of life. The culmination will take place on September 24th, 2016. We will then clean and nurture 1,000+ oysters to repopulate the bay and continue the environmental progress towards ultimate sustainability of shellfish and aquatic life in the bay areas. I will be extremely thankful for any donations as it will assist in my Eagle Scout Project and also start a revolution of conservation projects on Long Island. The goal of this ecological project is to provide the foundation for future oyster growth in our waters. This project is important to me because without the basic building blocks of life bred in our waters, the continuation of life will not happen. I hope to preserve the rivers, lakes, bays and oceans for generations to come.
