Oxford Wellbeing Summit July 2020
Support wellbeing for all in Oxford
Help The Oxford Wellbeing Project make wellbeing accessible to all local communities.
We are raising £3000 to cover the cost of hosting a free-to-attend Virtual Wellbeing Summit on 25th & 26th July, as well as setting up an Oxford Wellbeing website to take the project forward. Both the summit and website will help facilitate better access to wellbeing for our local Oxford community. The Covid-19 pandemic has affected many of us emotionally and mentally as well as physically, we hope our project will help support the community of Oxford during this unprecedented time and beyond. We cannot achieve this without you, we need your help to make this happen :)
Our vision:
We’re a collective of local practitioners, teachers, therapists and businesses headed up by East Oxford locals Laura Hancock & Rosie Jacobs, who are passionate about making wellbeing accessible to all communities in Oxford. We want to redefine wellbeing, and address issues around inequality, racial injustice and loneliness.
To kick off the project in 2020, we are launching a Virtual Wellbeing Summit on 25th & 26th July with 15 practitioners holding free classes and workshops across the weekend to showcase a wide range of practices, and create an online space for people in our community to come together and discuss what wellbeing is, and means to them.
Our aims:
Improve access to wellbeing for all communities
Improve quality and diversity of wellbeing servicesRedefine wellbeing Support local practitioners
We have big plans for this project and want to take a root and branch approach to wellbeing in Oxford, making sure that everyone can, and feels able to access affordable wellbeing through the project. Whether that’s through more traditional wellbeing practices like yoga and mindfulness, or taking a wider view of wellbeing through cross cultural sensitivity training and addressing the vulnerability of renters in the city.
The aim is that by coming together we can reach those that are in need of connection and support, make sure nobody is left behind, and create a stronger, more cohesive community amongst local practitioners and already established support groups.
Progress:
We are currently preparing two phases of the project:
1st phase :
The Weekend Wellbeing Summit with sessions from local practitioners and the overarching question being: "What does wellbeing mean to you?" From this, we’ll gather feedback and stories to inform and shape the second phase. 2nd phase:
An Online Wellbeing Hub that offers classes, workshops, talks and one-to-one therapies as well as a library of resources, and a pricing framework that makes these offerings accessible and sustainable. A percentage will go directly to the practitioner and a percentage will go back into the project to cover running costs, ensuring that all practitioners and therapists are fairly paid.
