Owerri Telemedicine clinic project.

My name is Francis Oguchialu Njoku,I was born in Nigeria;I studied general medicine in the former Soviet Union in Vitebsk state medical university Belarussia.
I now live in Plano, and work at Medical City Dallas Hospital in Texas.

I visited Owerri my home city in Nigeria last year, while I was there I saw first hand the tragic state of health system in my  rural communities.

After seeing the difficulties people have to go through to get medical help, I felt the urgent need to help improve the condition of my community in Owerri.

After several months of research and consultation with  doctors, I decided Telemedicine via information communication technology {ICT} would offer the patients the opportunity to  talk with doctors around the world, and also  give them the chance  to get a second opinion which would enable them to be well informed and participate in their own care.

I want to ensure that telemedicine and information communication technology in the health sector reaches out to the poorest underserved population of my local government.
The clinic is non profit and will focus more on infectious diseases and women health issues.while offering  services such as outpatient access to the clinic's pharmacy, blood tests, wide range of  wellness services, such as health information, support for people with sickle cell disease ,asthma and also free immunization for children.
We will also focus on aggressive  malaria control and treatments.

The major construction is complete. We are at the last stage ,installation of electrical appliances, hanging of interior doors and painting work.

The Telemedicine clinic is  being built on a private property about an acre in size,  fenced and gated for security.
The  clinic has 7 rooms, two rooms are  for the telemedincine communication between doctors and patients. The remaining rooms will house pharmacy, laboratory, doctors' conference room and guest rooms for international visitors,

The money raised will be used to purchase  basic medical screening equipments like portable digital EKG machines, examination beds, telemedicine cameras, television monitoring screens ,computers,100 KVA  generator, provision of clean water via bore hole source.
