Imagine being 11 years old, playing football week in, week out, a few times a week since you’ve been able to kick a ball. You’ve played for Peterborough United and some of the best grassroots football teams in Cambridgeshire. You’ve won the Butlins national tournament and you’ve been picked to play abroad against some of the best in the world.
Imagine that being taken away from you. The hours of dedication, the commitment and the time snatched away from one injury which took place in January 2020, an injury that couldn’t be seen without further tests to show you’re missing the anterior cruciate ligament in your knee.
Let’s meet Owen Nash.
On 7th December 2020 Owens family will be paying for Owen to undergo surgery to correct his knee. This is costing thousands just to allow this boy to run again. The recovery process is thought to take over a year, that’s a year of no sport and a year of watching all his team mates do what he desperately would want to be back doing.
The Yaxley Family have decided to pull together and cover 1000 miles on foot over 2 weeks starting January 6th. We want to raise as much money as we can to get this boy on the road to recovery as quickly and safely as possible. The boys are desperately missing him.
Please over the next month feel free to contribute anything, every penny counts to help this family recoup even a tiny something. We all know and realise how important sport is for the brain, more this year then ever.
