Owatonna Marching Band Fundraiser

Donation protected
The Owatonna High School Marching Band is a competitive unit comprised of 100+ student musicians, multiple support staff, and numerous parent volunteers.  They begin rehearsing their program during the Spring months and embark on an extensive and aggressive performance schedule each June.  Beyond the musical performance, students learn discipline, leadership, and teamwork skills which they will carry with them throughout their lives and demonstrate levels of athleticism that rival any other high school sports.  Of their numerous awards, they have received Best Hornline at the Lake Waconia Marching Band Festival, 1st Place AAA at the Milaca Northland Parade, and 1st Place AAA, Best Colorguard, and Best Drumline at the Sauk Rapids River Days Parade this season.

The student participation fees are calculated annually and offset the budgeted transportation, support, and parade entrance fees for the season.  As with any household or business, unplanned expenses can wreak havoc on their budget and that is the situation the band finds themselves in this season.  While driving to their first parade performance in Fridley, MN, the band's equipment trailer experienced a massive mechanical failure of the braking system.  Fortunately, no individuals were hurt and no equipment was damaged.  However, the resulting repair costs have taken a huge bite out of the band's budget and now threaten their season.  Your donations will help keep this dedicated group of students on the road and allow them to complete their full performance schedule.

Similar to these unplanned trailer repair expenses are the wish-list items the band continues to include in their annual budgets yet never purchase due to competition for funds.  This wish-list includes things like a new Frontline banner with updated graphics, as well as improved lighting and a deep-cycle battery for the equipment trailer to help make loading in the dark after evening parade performances safer and faster.  These are just a few of the items on the band's wish-list and all donations received in excess of our initial goal will be used to fund these types of purchases.

We've set a $3000 goal for this fundraising campaign.  This would cover the repairs to the equipment trailer braking system and allow for the purchase of a new Frontline banner.  Again, all donations in excess of this goal will be used to fund additional and future wish-list purchases for the band.

Every donation helps and no donation is too small!  Thank you for your support!
