Ovations 2018 Sound and Lights Fund

We need your help! Every spring, the students of Blair High School in Pasadena, California present a musical revue called “Ovations”. This production features professional sound, lighting, and musical accompaniment. Our cast is made up of a diverse group of students from grades 6-12 who are united by their love of the performing arts. As part of this program, students receive quality drama, dance, and vocal music instruction. They also improve their ability to communicate clearly, problem-solve, and collaborate with their peers to achieve a common goal.
Ovations is made possible through a combination of grants, individual donations, fundraisers, and ticket sales. This year, many of our major funding sources have had to scale back their contributions. We are also unable to use our traditional venue, located on the school campus, due to construction. This has forced us to rent another facility at additional cost and a decreased seating capacity.
To make a long story short, our financial need has increased at the same time that many of our funding sources are decreasing. We have scaled back on the size of the production, and decreased the number of people on our production team in an attempt to lower overall costs. The purpose of this campaign is to ensure that our students have the lighting and sound they need to tell their story.
It may seem like an impossible situation, but we’re not discouraged because we believe that with the help of people like you, who know that the arts play a vital role in education, we can raise the money that we need to be able to mount our student production. Ironically, this year our theme is all about heroes. Our students are learning that heroes don’t always have super powers or special abilities. Sometimes heroes are ordinary people who simply manage to keep working toward their goal even when the situation seems impossible.
Show our students that it’s worth it to persevere in the face of adversity, and become one of our heroes with your generous donation. No amount is too small. We are grateful for your support.
