I would like to share with you the hearbreaking news of my dear 16 year old nephew, Tom!
You never believe that you're ever going to get the news about one of the kids in your family, (my sister and brother in law have two big strong boys and I have Toby) Over a week ago I got that heart-wrenching call that any parent never wants to hear.
It's been daily urgent testing and hospital visits after my sister and brother in law first noticed a small lump in Tom's neck upon a regular school holidays checkup... it was quickly determined that it was lymphoma and it had spread to other parts of his body, three in his neck, one in his shoulder and a larger mass behind the lung.
The precise diagnosis is stage 2A Hodgkin' Lymphona.
To start the journey to recovery Thomas will begin chemotherapy and radiation for the next four months starting this week on Wednesday.
Tom has had to put his carpentry apprenticehip on hold due to the treatment ahead, my sister has become a carer overnight and life for the family has rerouted and changed overnight!
Many friends and family have been calling and messaging them all and asked how they can help? ... I know already of some of the burdens after speaking to Christy and one big one already is financials on top of everything else!
