Moore's Side of the Mountain

Donation protected
Ever since Kayla can remember she has imagined herself living in the middle of nowhere surrounded by woods. Books like "The Hatchet" and "My Side of the Mountain" spurred these adolescent daydreams. As she got older, it became more and more apparent that "living off the land" wasn't what the average person yearned for. They wanted a big house surrounded by other big houses in a nice city with fancy cars and small yards. Eventually, she lost site of that dream. It wasn't until she met Rob that what she had only ever pictured as an idealistic fantasy could be made into a reality.

Ever since Rob can remember he's loved the feeling of tape between his fingers. Finding the perfectly rolled piece with the proper amount of tack...it's a lifelong goal. As he got older it became more and more apparent that "spending your life playing with tape" wasn't what the average person yearned for (though he's never really lost site of that dream). Other than tape, Rob has always loved outside. Ever since he was a kid Rob has loved woods and forts and sticks and trees. As far back as he can remember (or at least since he moved to Arkansas) he's wanted to build a little house with his little family surrounded by big trees in the Arkansas wild. It wasn't until he met Kayla that what he had only ever pictured as a "goal I'll always talk about but never do" became a reality.

In January of this year, Kayla and Rob purchased 9.99 acres of virgin hardwood Ozark forest. One of the reasons they are so excited to get married at Hazel Valley Ranch is because it sits in the valley below their mountain top property. The picture above was taken on their land shortly after Rob asked Kayla to marry him. This is their special place and they can't wait to move there.

As such, all we are requesting for our wedding is your presence. As many of you are traveling some distance to get here we are incredibly grateful for all you've spent to be a part of our wedding day. In lieu of a traditional registry we've created this page in case anyone feels so inclined as a way to participate as we begin the concrete process of building a house. So far we have learned that planning to build a house is far more complex than expected. Currently we are saving all the spare change for an architect and are planning to start work on the driveway this fall in hopes of moving onto our land in 2019.
