Young Mom With Cancer Urgently Needs Help

I am 33 years old and am the world's proudest mother and wife. I was born with Spina Bifida, a birth defect that occurs when the bones of the spine don't form properly around the spinal cord. I need to use a wheelchair on a daily basis. That was my first physical challenge! However, I have never let my disability affect my life. My husband and I have been happily together for over 15 years. We are blessed with two beautiful daughters, ages 2 and 6. Everything in my life seemed perfect. Then my world turned upside down.

I was diagnosed 5 months ago with internal melanoma, a horrible diagnosis and disease! The cancer has grown on my liver, ovaries and pancreas and is still continuing to spread. I've been devastated thinking about what will happen to my family, especially my very young children who I adore. I want to live to see my precious little girls grow up and be there to support my husband.

I have two urgent needs;

1.    Stop the cancer

2.    Support during advanced chemotherapy

Stop the Cancer

To stop the cancer I now need more advanced immediate medical treatment using a very expensive cancer drug. Fortunately 90 percent of the cost is covered by medical insurance. However, that means personally paying $13,000 for the treatments over the next 3 months. This is an unbelievably difficult financial hardship for my husband who, although he has a full time job, does not make the level of income to cover anything beyond our household expenses. The doctors have told me that having this chemotherapy is my only hope of living.

Support During Advance Chemotherapy

It has become nearly impossible for me to take care of my children because of the physical effects of the cancer. My specialist said that there will be increased debilitating side effects from the advanced chemotherapy.  I am now no longer able to pick up my children from school, feed, bathe, dress, or put them to bed.

We live in a small co-op housing apartment and my husband does not get home from work until 8:00 at night. Our wonderful family and friends have been helping out as much as possible. I'm extremely grateful for their support and care. I now realize I need even more help in the months ahead to get through each day caring for myself, my husband and my children - and beating this cancer.

Over the next 6 months we estimate it will take $17,000 to cover the cost of hiring a caregiver to come into our apartment on a daily basis to provide child care as well as personal support for me during chemotherapy treatments and recuperation.

Every day with  my beautiful girls and devoted husband is a day that I will cherish.

Thank you for any donation you can give to come along side my family during this battle with cancer

Anne....a.k.a. WONDER WOMAN...with her nausia bracelets.

This Go fund me campaign has been put together by Carol Cunningham who lives in Ajax, Ontario. Anne is my niece. Anne will be able to withdraw the funds as needed for her medical treatments and care.

Not very cheery during the first few weeks of December due to a hernia operation!  All was back on the track in time for me to go home in time for Christmas.  I will be writing more updates soon, as my medical team has a strategy that will include gene therapy again.
