Victor's Battle
Victor has acute myeloid leukemia. He was diagnosed in March 2017 and since then has been receiving treatment at Stanford Hospital. In October 2017, following an exam of his bone marrow, he learned that he was in remission but unfortunately the cancer returned in December 2017. Victor was in treatment again from December 29th, 2017 to January 23rd, 2018. Victor is in need of a bone marrow transplant but has been unable to find any that is 100% compatible so doctors have proposed a stem cell transplant instead.
Victor had another round of chemotherapy starting on February 9th, 2018 to ensure that he is clear of cancerous cells. At the end of February, he was hospitalized and put on a round of more aggressive chemotherapy. After that his body was exposed to 4 days of radiotherapy at the beginning of April to eliminate all the marrow in my bones in preparation for the stem cell transplant on April 6th, 2018. After being in the hospital for 30 days, and once he is stable again, Victor should be able to return home under observation to ensure that his treatment is going well. To achieve this, someone will need to take care of Victor 24 hours a day for at least 70 days.
Victor needs our help since he is unable to work due to his situation. His brother, Ivan will resign from his job to care for Victor full time. Victor needs financial support to cover rent, food and transportation to the hospital for appointments or emergencies.
Message from Victor
"It would help for transportation to the hospital, gasoline, public transportation, food, rent for my room for at least three months and for the very basic things I might need. I am a person of simple needs and this would help with the most essential things I need to live and move forward."
Any amount would be greatly appreciated by Victor. His goal is to get better so that he can see his daughter again and be with her.
