Senior Equines need your help!

Tax deductible
Here at Fallen Oak Equine Rescue we have 4 horses that came to us this past year with “Body Condition Scores” between .5 to a 1. All 4 of these rescues are aged well into their 30’s. Each one also has little to no teeth. When they came into the rescue they were fully vetted, including blood work which showed their body was actually breaking down and eating it's muscle to survive. Our worst one also had a severe UTI infection. Due to the lack of knowledge on proper feeding for seniors and proper preparation of food for equines with little to no teeth or just plain NEGLECT by their previous owners, these senior equines SUFFERED HORRIBLY! One by one they were surrendered to us…RUSTY then BIG RED then WINNIE and then sweet HONEY. Honey was scheduled to be euthanized because of her body condition and her age of 30+. They felt it was a losing battle to try and save her life and the possible cost was too much for them to want to take on. So we stepped in knowing how bad she was because she at least deserved the chance to make it. When each one arrived to our Board Member/foster home (Kristin Griffin) down in Summerfield, FL they came in broken, defeated and just done fighting to live. And like most severe cases they had lost the “Spirit” in their eyes. But I’m happy to tell you that over time with the proper care, nutrition and hard work by our Board Member and her two young helpers (sons, Jayden & Blake) they ALL have that “SPIRIT OF LIFE” back in those eyes. And that’s the moment a rescuer lives for! We love to see these old souls walking and sometimes even trotting around the farm, with their heads up high, whinnying and us hearing their old, soft nicker just touches our hearts. Rusty, Big Red, Winnie and Honey have become great friends and mentally rely on each other each day. At this age & very fragile time in their life we don't feel its right to move them again. And having to go through learning to trust another person again. And then also having to learn a new day to day routine of another farm. Many of you, our followers and supporters messaged us STRESSING to us the fear you too had about us adopting them out at those ages. YOU, our follower and supporter, said many times we should keep them and let them live out the rest of their lives, however long that may be in a stress free environment…a sanctuary. So our foster mom, who is the one who rehabbed all 4 of them, has offered to let them stay at her facility for us under Fallen Oak. This can only work with YOUR HELP! FOER doesn’t have extra funds to spend on feeding and housing 4 rescues indefinitely. So we are going to be doing a GoFundMe every 6 months just for these special senior rescues. The money we raise in these "special” GoFundMe will go towards them only! Everyone involved with FOER including me, the President of FOER do all we do voluntarily...for the rescues. The funds will go towards 6 months of feed, hay,de- worming, farrier, and regular vetting for their immunizations. We really hope every one of you can help support us with this special need for some VERY SPECIAL senior rescues. Remember, no donation is too small…every penny helps. FOER is a 501c (3) nonprofit equine rescue organization and all donations are tax deductible. From RUSTY, BIG RED, WINNIE, HONEY, and everyone here at FALLEN OAK EQUINE RESCUE & REHABILITATION, INC...THANK YOU in advance for your help! God Bless, Kimberly Pope President, FOER
