Our run for Spinal Cord Injury

Hi everyone!

Thank you for visiting our go fund me page.

This year we have decided to join the AJ Bell Great Bristol Run on the 11th of may to raise money for two causes very close to our hearts.

Deb ,Michelle , Mark, Danny, Anna, Elizabeth and myself will be doing the 10k and Ben and Margarita will be doing the half marathon.

As many of you know Aaron had a motorbike accident on the 1st June 2023 which has resulted in him being paralysed from the chest down.

Half of the funds that are donated will be going towards helping Aaron, Deb , Millie and Oliver to help them with any resources they may need as they continue to transition with their day to day lives.

The other half of the funds that' are donated will be going to a charity called 'The Back up Trust'

The back up trust is a charity that supports people and family's affected by spinal cord injury. Some of the services they offer are help and advice, support, wheelchair skills and mentoring.

Both Aaron and Deb have been able to use the amazing mentoring service that the back up trust offers. This service consists of volunteers who have a spinal cord injury themselves or are parents, partners, siblings or children of people who have a spinal cord injury and it is completely.free.

Aaron was able to speak to a guy who has a similar injury level to him, and Deb was able to speak with a lady whose husband has a spinal cord injury. It was such a relief for them to talk to someone who understands what they are both going through and gain an incredible amount of knowledge of what it is like living with a spinal cord injury, caring for someone with a spinal cord injury and everything in between.

The money raised for the back up trust will help fund training for mentors, wheelchair skills, outreach calls and more.

We chose the 10k and the half marathon as we thought it would be something fun to take part in.

None if us that are doing the 10k are runners ( atall!!) so it will certainly be interesting to see how we go but we will give it our all.
