Our Registry: The Undiagnosed Disease Fund

Hello to our fabulous community. As we thought about what we wanted to register for for our upcoming wedding we were filled with feelings of gratitude, abundance and satisfaction with what already exists in our lives. As many of you know, to both be healthy and thriving, living in our beautiful home together and surrounded by people we love is a gift so beyond our biggest dreams. So we started to think about the journey we have been on to get here. Inspired by Jesse's experience searching for an undiagnosed illness for most of his adult life as well as the many stories we have heard through the Major Pain podcast, we decided to make our registry a fund that could help others along their own journeys with undiagnosed illness.

Here is where you come in. Through the podcast, we will reach out and search for folks who are in need of genetic testing on their diagnostic journey. This crucial step in finding answers is almost never covered by insurance and the prohibitive cost leaves so many people without access to this crucial piece of the puzzle in finding answers. We will select a person by random draw (which we feel is the fairest way), connect them with a genetics counselor and pay for their testing. Then, we will interview them on the podcast and share their story with all of you. The cost for full genome testing for one person is around 3,000 dollars so we have made that our goal. Reaching that goal would be an absolute dream and if we raise beyond that, the money will go directly toward providing testing for another person.
