Our old Grump
Donation protected
Update: The Old Grump is on the mend and back to his bitchin! We’re currently leaving the campaign open to assist with any bills that rear their head, as he’s been out of work healing for over a month. We’re hoping for a full recovery within the next few weeks. I’d like to thank all those that shared and donated to our Dad. We love you all.
Hi. My name is Savannah Yost, the daughter of the grumpy looking old man in the photo. What you don’t see, is the lemon sized abscess on, and the almost total collapse of, his left lung….or the infection that’s already made its way to his bloodstream.
One day after this photo was taken he was admitted to the hospital where we found out that he was suffering from pneumonia with severe sepsis. Imaging showed so much fluid build up that he was taken for lung surgery. They scraped the infection out, removed a large abscess filled with pus, as well as a portion of his lung, and then placed tubes to assist drainage. There was a murky few days there where we couldn’t see more than a few hours ahead, and it would be another 7 days before we gained some clarity on just how close he came to meeting our Maker. How this man managed to work, and cook for Easter, with pneumonia, sepsis and a collapsed lung, all while thinking it was just a back ache, is beyond me…
I tell you all of this today to ask for some help sustaining his tomorrows. This man has sacrificed more for us girls than I could ever repay, and unfortunately, my time is all I’m able to offer him.
If you’ve taken the time to read this far, I thank you for it. Please share it for us…and if you’re moved to give, I thank you and The Lord for it. All Glory be to Him, who not only saved my Dad just in time, but continues to bless his recovery through all of you.
