Our landmark "pink" theater needs help.

Our new reality is truly "hitting home" in ways that are unimaginable. COVID-19 has caused our community to shut down - this is the right, safe thing to do. Our families, friends, colleagues and fellow business owners are pivoting daily, finding new ways of living, new ways of communicating, new ways of creating. But with that comes sacrifice. Our "little pink theater" that completes the blueprint of the center of Foxborough is in need of financial help.
This is a direct call on our town to help keep the MRPAC doors open after COVID-19 passes. It is hard to imagine now...a life that is back to normal, where the uptown is bustling with the Founder's Day crowds, where the Christmas Tree Lighting is followed with holiday cheer at the MRPAC's Christmas Extravaganza. But, it will happen, and when that time comes, we want those beautiful historic doors OPEN! See what your theater means to the community...
Let's get personal. I left my career at an arts organization in Boston a bit over a year ago to stay at home with my kids. I was lost for some time, not knowing where my path was, not knowing where I could add value in Foxboro. One day I left a message on the MRPAC's voicemail and within an hour I received a call back, which turned into an hour conversation, which has turned into the most rewarding volunteer role I could have imagined. You see, the MRPAC is quiet but fierce. With minimal salaried employees (we are talking under 8) they continue time and time again to open their doors to community partners, to families, to our seniors. Do you know that the MRPAC is committed to inclusivity? Do you know that their employees consist of those with special needs, those with physical challenges and and a diverse range of experiences in all facets of the arts? You probably don't, because they are humble. And that humble spirit, that modest pink exterior, is a cornerstone of our community that has welcomed patrons for over 100 years!
Like all arts organization, the MRPAC...The Orpheum, has evolved. It has gone through different directors, it has changed names. But what has stayed the same and will stay the same is their commitment to community. I think everyone knows someone who has performed on that iconic stage. In my short involvement, I have even met adults who remember performing on that same stage as kids! We are incredibly lucky to have a deep rooted landmark organization in our town. However, at the moment, we are just lucky.
Together, let's raise a significant amount of money to ensure that the end of COVID-19 is NOT the end of the MRPAC. Any donation will help make an impact. Just think, what together, we are capable of doing for our center of town. Just think, that when this all passes, YOU were a part of sustaining the character, culture and history of Foxboro.
