Thank you for visiting our wedding registry.
We’re extremely grateful to have so much love in our life, and to have had bountiful opportunities to succeed. However, there are many people in this world who are not as fortunate as us.
As some of you know, Raúl is originally from Panama. No, not Panama City, FL…. the real Panama City. When Raúl was 10 years old, his mother, Olivia, brought he and his sister to the United States to start a new life; a life full of possibilities and growth opportunities. Raúl attributes the blessings in his life to his mother’s decision to come to the U.S., the sacrifices she made, her work ethic, and her faith.
Sara was also fortunate to have parents who strived to give their children every opportunity to succeed, and to provide them with a life that was simpler than their own. Through grit, love, and dedication, Sara’s parents, Emilie and John, created the foundation she needed to grow into a strong, independent woman with a big heart.
As our lives come together as one, we have identified a dream that we would like to pursue as newlyweds. With Raúl’s roots tied to Central America, and a common desire to have a positive impact on something greater than ourselves, we have decided to pursue international volunteering, with our focus being in the Latin Americas. Although Central and Southern America have become more developed in recent decades, there is still a need for education, positive role models, elderly assistance, and ecosystem preservation. Instead of taking a traditional honeymoon shortly after the wedding, we will be planning an extended trip to offer our services to countries in these regions.
We would appreciate your support in our efforts to get there. Your donation will go towards the cost of volunteer agency fees, transportation costs, housing, meals, and travel gear. Any excess funding will be put towards a non-profit organization that benefits individuals in a similar nature. If you would prefer to gift us with a material item as opposed to donating to this monetary fund, please view our REI registry.
Thank you for your support. We are looking forward to this adventure!
With love,
Sara and Raúl
