On the morning of Tuesday, November 26th, my wife and I (and our cat) left to visit my brother and his girlfriend in Pennsylvania for Thanksgiving.
That same Tuesday evening, at approximately 7:27pm, we received a phone call that started tearfully with “Christopher, your house is on fire.”
I listened as the progress of the flames were described to me, as they travelled room to room and the windows blew out.
I then listened as our belongings were being thrown in the yard, melted, burned, destroyed.
Before this happened, we were already having severe financial difficulties and had started a GoFundMe…sadly, we weren’t able to get much help and honestly, I’m not sure why I’m starting this one and expecting different results..but we have lost EVERYTHING….
Our clothes, our bedding, our coats, years worth of holiday decorations, family photo albums, treasured memories, the paw print impression of our dog who passed away in January, the collectibles we hadn’t sold, our computer, multiple hard drives with irreplaceable data, our home, our entire lives….
We are thankful that we had our cat with us when we left but now we have nothing.
My wife is disabled and uses a wheelchair, I too am in bad physical shape and with our cat, the three of us have nothing.
I don’t know how to do this. I don’t know how to ask for help because our home burned down and I don’t know how much to ask for because we’ve lost everything and this whole ordeal has just been so incredibly overwhelming…
I’ve been trying desperately to keep it together for the sake of my wife but it is becoming harder and harder to contain, bringing me to the edge of losing it altogether.
Everyone is experiencing some sort of difficulty, this time of year especially..I get it..but if anyone out there can spare a donation or even just sharing our GFM link, we would greatly appreciate it with all our hearts.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope everyone had a happier thanksgiving than we had..
Happy Holidays to you all
- Chris, Paula & Pooter
