<div>On Thursday, May 30th, we lost a hero. Officer Jamal Mitchell was senselessly killed while serving the community. He was a father of four, a fiancé, a friend, and my neighbor. He served as a Minneapolis Police Officer for less than two years before making the ultimate sacrifice.

<div>When I say he was a hero, make no mistake, he was just that. In fact, on just his third day as a Minneapolis Officer, he and another officer bravely saved the lives of an elderly couple whose home was on fire.

<div>Jamal had the biggest brightest smile and would light up any room when he walked in. He was a loving dad and would be seen daily playing in his yard with his beautiful young kids. He had a bigger than life personality and yet was humble about his acts of service.
