Our Hearts are in Puerto Rico
Our families span across Puerto Rico from the smallest towns to the largest towns. Our families, which consist of Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins of all ages, from a 2-year-old cousin to a 99-year-old aunt, are currently suffering from lack of water, food, electricity, medical assistance and even their homes.
The lives of our families have been disrupted and destroyed by Hurricanes Irma and Maria. More importantly, some family members are suffering from medical conditions such as cancer, Alzheimer’s, diabetes, or have special needs which require constant medical attention, all of which they have lost access to. Other family members have lost their financial means. We have farmers who have lost their livestock, children who cannot go to school, and millions of jobs lost temporarily due to Hurricanes Irma and Maria.
Although we are separated by thousands of miles and the ocean, these are our family members, all US citizens, and more importantly, they are people who are desperately in need of our help.
Though the capital of Puerto Rico is in San Juan, our hearts and souls are with our family members who live in the mountains and the coastal areas. Remember, this is a beautiful island that will take YEARS to recover.
