Our Friend Ben

In the thick of the holiday season, there’s nothing worse than suddenly falling ill and suffering a life-threatening illness. Unfortunately, this is the case for our good friend and respected colleague, Ben Sanders. Ben recently moved to Houston, TX to pursue economic opportunities for his family, and in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, was finally getting settled with his new job. In early December, Ben was on his way to work and suddenly collapsed. After a scary encounter on life support, it has been determined that Ben will need a heart transplant in order to make a recovery. Ben worked as a surgical tech and first assist in Labor and Delivery and the Main OR at Franklin Square, and has always brought a ray of sunshine to everyone he encounters on his shift. Ben worked tirelessly to provide for his family, often taking on several jobs across many hospitals and surgical centers. In Texas, it was no different; however, beginning a new job leaves Ben lacking the stability of health insurance and emergency funds.
