<div>Cety Barberousse, an experienced safety and security specialist, has been the guardian angel of many humanitarian workers. He has helped keep all of us safe as we deliver lifesaving assistance to those who need it most in Haiti. Now it is our turn to give back!

<div>Cety suffered a heart attack while working in Haiti's capital, Port-au-Prince. Two days later, he developed a serious complication: cardiogenic shock. This is a life-threatening medical emergency, but it can be successfully treated if diagnosed and managed promptly.
</div>

</div>
<div>Unfortunately, Haiti’s hospitals were not equipped to treat such a complex case. His doctors strongly recommended that he be urgently airlifted to the Dominican Republic for specialized intensive care.
</div>

</div>
<div>After a complex medical evacuation, Cety was transferred to Santo Domingo, where he underwent heart surgery. He spent several days in intensive care before being discharged and completing several months of cardiac rehabilitation. Although he has made remarkable progress, Cety now requires lifelong treatment for heart failure and regular specialist follow-up.

<div>Cety a été victime d'une crise cardiaque alors qu'il travaillait à Port-au-Prince, la capitale haïtienne. Deux jours plus tard, il a développé une grave complication : un choc cardiogénique. Il s’agit d’une urgence vitale, qui peut être traitée si elle est diagnostiquée et prise en charge rapidement.

<div>Malheureusement, les structures hospitalières en Haïti ne sont pas équipées pour prendre en charge un cas aussi complexe. Les médecins ont fortement recommandé son transfert d’urgence par ambulance aérienne vers la République dominicaine afin qu’il puisse bénéficier de soins intensifs spécialisés, indisponibles en Haïti.

<div>Après une évacuation sanitaire complexe, Cety a été transféré à Saint-Domingue, où il a subi une intervention chirurgicale cardiaque. Il a quitté l’hôpital après quelques jours en soins intensifs, suivis de plusieurs mois de réadaptation cardiaque. Aujourd’hui, Cety a besoin d’un traitement à vie pour son insuffisance cardiaque ainsi que d’un suivi médical spécialisé et régulier.
