<div>In December 2025, our lives were turned upside down when our dad, Kev, was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) — a rare and aggressive form of blood cancer.

<div>Since his diagnosis, he has been hospitalised continuously and is currently undergoing intensive chemotherapy. In May, he will face the next critical step in his treatment: a bone marrow transplant.

<div>This treatment is lifesaving, but it is also physically and emotionally grueling. The aggressive chemotherapy has taken an enormous toll on his body and spirit, and the long months in hospital have been incredibly isolating and exhausting.

<div>Before his diagnosis, Dad was self-employed as a hairdresser and handyman in Sydney’s East, working hard to support himself and his two children. He gave up lots of his time in the last 8 years to be involved as a judge at Mulletfest. He helped raise funds for people fighting brain cancer.

<div>Overnight, everything changed. He is now unable to work, has no regular income, and faces mounting financial pressure at a time when his only focus should be on survival and recovery. He has had to give up his rental property because his first thoughts were of us. He wants to be able to use every available cent to ensure we are ok. This means when he finally gets discharged, he will effectively be homeless at the time when you need the comfort of your own house and your own bed the most. He has given that comfort away for us.... but that is our dad all over.

<div>Dad is financially responsible for us, his two children. We are trying to navigate life while watching dad fight for life. It's breaking every fiber of our souls.

<div>His ex-partner (our mum) is supporting him and us day to day, but we miss our dad.  This has also been an incredibly difficult time for our extended family, including loved ones in Adelaide, who are separated by distance but deeply affected by what he is going through.

<div>We are focused on our dad but the reality is we still need stability, routine, and care—education expenses, daily living costs, and emotional support—all while dad remains in hospital for months at a time.

<div>We are raising funds to help ease the financial burden during this incredibly challenging period and to safeguard what was his life and his future, so that he has something to continue to fight for.
