Keep Palmer Heights Ours!

Donation protected
Thank you for helping to support the neighborhood around E. San Miguel and N. Circle (Palmer Heights) to oppose the building of an unwanted Kum & Go and associated traffic light at the intersection. We value our community and hope that you can help us connect our community and send a message to the city of Colorado Springs that our neighborhood is valuable and should be heard!

Our community opposes this planned business because we love our neighborhood and neighbors. We want to see development that enlivens and adds vitality to the area.

On September 5, a formal complaint was filed against the Colorado Springs City Council for their decision to approve the gas station development despite opposition from the community and against the recommendation of our city council representative. The concerns cited related to health, safety, public welfare, and added community nuisance. To file this complaint and provide ongoing support for this action $5,120 is needed to cover all legal costs and filing fees. The attorney working with our group has allowed us to pay this cost over time. Initially, four individuals from the neighborhood supplied $500 each, and one company (an LLC that represents apartment homes in the neighborhood) provided $1,000. This leaves $2120 still needed!

The proceeds of this fundraiser will be used as follows:
• $2120 will cover the remaining legal fees
• $1600 will be used to repay a portion of the four individual donations evenly
• A small amount will be used to cover supply costs and expenses (supplies, copies, etc).
• Any remaining funds raised will be donated to Christmas Unlimited, supporting underserved children and families in our neighborhood. http://www.christmasunlimited.org/
*Please note that any donation to our community fundraiser is not tax-deductible.

Please add your voice to ours by donating to our legal costs! You can also show support by signing a letter to our community leaders. More information on the complaint and opportunities to sign a letter are below.

This effort is driven by our love of our community. Our overall goal in opposing this development is building more community engagement, collaboration, and voice in our neighborhood and district!

Please send a message with any questions and we will contact you as soon as possible.

Thank you for your support!
