We are incredibly grateful for the support our family has received. When we first started this fundraiser we were facing legal costs of around $36,000, which felt overwhelming.

Thanks to the kindness and generosity of so many people sharing and donating, we have been able to cover most of those costs. We are now just $3,511 away from reaching what we need.

Our family has also done everything we can on our side to contribute. We have made difficult sacrifices, including selling our vehicle, to help cover these legal costs and continue this fight to keep our family together.

We cannot express how much every donation, message and share has meant to us during this incredibly difficult time.

UPDATE- we have an hearing date of 23rd and 24th of April. A little sooner than we anticipated, BUT we are feeling more and more confident with the conversations today with lawyers. There is a real fighting chance of success, but it’s not going to be an easy fight. We are reaching our target, have had so much support. We are very grateful. Our family is currently facing the most difficult time of our lives.

In 2024, Nick experienced a serious mental health collapse. During that period, he was unwell and not thinking clearly, which led to legal difficulties that we are now working through. This was not a reflection of who he truly is as a father, partner, or person — it was the result of untreated mental illness at the time.

Since then, Nick has taken full responsibility and has committed himself to recovery. He is receiving ongoing medical treatment, engaging in support programs, and doing everything possible to rebuild stability and security for our family.

We are now fighting to keep our family together.

We are working within a strict legal timeline, with our hearing scheduled within the next 84 days. This means we must urgently secure legal representation, expert reports, and all necessary evidence in a very short period of time.

The legal costs involved — including lawyers, barristers, medical reports and expert assessments — have become overwhelming. Our fixed legal fees alone are $36,000, far more than we ever expected.

More than anything, we simply want to protect our children from the devastating consequences that would follow if we are unsuccessful. If we lose this case, it would result in a lifetime ban, permanently separating Nick from his children and Nick would be sent back to PNG.

The emotional impact on our kids would be profound and long-lasting. They have already been through so much, and we are doing everything in our power to prevent further trauma and heartache.

We know everyone has their own financial pressures, and asking for help is incredibly hard for us. But if you are in a position to contribute — no matter how small — it would mean more than we can ever express.
