Our Brain Balance Fund
Meet my little guy! He's a sweet, cuddly ham and a super sharp kiddo. He also has high-functioning autism.
This leaves him with lots of sensory sensitivities; like feeling nauseated when exposed to strong smells, or feeling anxious around loud, unexpected noises, like sensor flush toilets. It's sort of like the volume and speed is turned up on his day-to-day experience.
He has some trouble with emotional regulation, which means small troubles can feel huge to him, and with executive function, which means he doesn't always control his impulses or make the most constructive choices. This has led to discipline issues in school and difficulty with friendships.
I have done quite a bit of research seeking the right kind of support for my little guy, and I came upon Brain Balance Achievement Centers. The therapies at Brain Balance address underlying causes of "stimming", or self-soothing behaviors that are common with autism. They also work with training proprioceptive and vestibular systems, which help us understand where we are in space and how to relate to the world around us.
My plan is to take my son to the Brain Balance Center for sessions three times per week. We will also be going sugar, gluten, and dairy free to see if any of these foods affect his behavior and cognitive function. My goal amount will cover tuition for three Brain Balance sessions a week for three months, plus GoFundMe fees.
I sincerely appreciate your support!
