Our Beloved Tracey D. Turner

Tracey D. Turner, actress, director, producer, artist, educator, chili and black eye peas mistress, avid charm collector, sister, daughter, mother, friend.

Tracey D. Turner, incredible and captivating actress and director, is eternal, but sadly, not long for this world. She is heading to the great Stage in the Sky in her new role as one of the Lord’s Angels.

Our friend, fellow artist, collaborator, power diva, and Pittsburgh theatrical culture maker. Fierce in her stance to bring so many visions to life, shaping something magnificent and magical out of nothing, out of dust, dreams, sweat, blood, and tears. She has dedicated her whole life for two creations, her children and the theatre.

She is a rare gem of a performer, Afro-Indigenous, woman, and human being. We, as her friends, have reveled in her spirit, and rise every time in her presence. She has always been rare in her ability to shine when life seemed so dark, and love when loving was hard to do, and continue to dream, even while dreams seemed fleeting. And in that rarity, Ms. Tracey, found herself in the rarity of the health kind. For the past year, she has been battling cancer. She fought like a champ but now she is being called home, as we all will one day when we are called home to our Creator.

If you were blessed to see her on stage or screen, if her work has ever touched your heart and soul, if you hung out with her at a party, danced with her to the music, please help us, to help Tracey with her final expenses. Any overage will be used for critical financial assistance for her minor child as she finishes out high school. After the funeral expenses all remaining funds for her minor child will be managed by her legal guardian.

As Artists, we prepare for our entrance, the rehearsal, the performance, but we don’t always find ourselves with the luxury to prepare for our ultimate exit. Let’s greet Tracey at the final stage door with love, adoration, applause, buckets of flowers and some help for her youngest daughter.

We thank you for listening. We thank you for honoring a Black woman in the arts. We Thank you for recognizing her brilliance, vision, and legacy. We thank you for any tangible love offerings.

With Love and Gratitude, Christiane Dolores, Phat Man Dee, Geña, and Mark Whitehead.
