Please help my family from becoming homeless.
On Sept 15th 2020: The Local City Inspector for Mount Carmel IL showed up at our door with a police officer, He informed me that we had to vacate the property and he put one of those signs on the door saying out house was not livable.
It is true our house needs repairs, the foundation is cracking all around, one room has parts of the celling falling, the plumming needs to be fixed. And the bathroom floor needs some repairs.
We were buying the house on contract but the contract said we had to pay for all the repairs even for the ones that were their before we moved in.
After the City Inspector left. My mother Cathy Knight who is 63 Years old started making phone calls. She called laywer. As well as every Low Income Apartments Near Us.
We have 7 Cats and even thought it will be sad for us to part with them we will if we must.
The Sign on the door gave us till Midnight to be out But a lady at city hall was able to get us till morning of the 16th
On Sept 16th: My mother called the City Inspector and he gave us 15 Days to find a place.
We have called all of the Low Income Apartments near us and either its No Vacanys or No Downstairs Apartments. My mother must have a downstairs she is in a wheelchair as you can see her in the photo above
We have called family member who live on the other side of the country, They say they can not help us. Everytime some one gives my mother a name of a person to call with in the next 10 mins my mother calls them. Its gotten to the point she not eating well because all she is doing it making phone calls all day long.
My Mother is on SSI and SSR.
I am on SSI do to a Mental Disability I get SSR though my mother
and my Brother who is my Step-Brother is also on SSI.
We have done everything humanaly postable to try and find us a new home.
