Our beautiful Daisy needs life saving surgery
Donation protected
6 Months ago we rescued our beautiful Daisy a 1 year old staffy cross from AWLQ. We have now found out that she has a rare genetic condition called dermoid sinus. Dermoid sinus is defined as a congenital malformation resulting from failed separation of the neural tube from the skin ectoderm. The result is typically a tubular sac that is lined with hair follicles, sweat glands, and sebaceous glands, extending from the dorsal midline to underlying tissues, in Daisy’s case these are down to the bone in her neck. These became very infected, very quickly last week and has been a very stressful time for my family. Our usual vets were unable to assist further as she needed specialist diagnostic scans and spinal surgery, she has been hospitalised and had drains put in to remove the swelling and infection and is now well enough to have life saving surgery to remove these sinuses in her neck and back tomorrow morning. AWLQ are unable to assist us financially with Daisy’s surgery costs. Any help will be greatly appreciated in assisting us to save our beautiful girl.
