<div>Armed criminals have struck a terrible and lasting blow to my family’s small business, The Mayflower Bakery. The law is not helping us, and our insurance company is not paying us. As a longtime member of the community, we are asking you, our neighbors, for help.

<div>On February 15th, two men walked into our driveway under cover of the 3am darkness and stole our van. We reported it to the police just a few hours later, when we woke up to find it missing. We received the case number #25-0008122. After the police conducted a brief search, we were told nothing could be done. We had to wait for new developments.

<div>On February 16th, a hardware store in Anne Arundel told us that our van was used for a robbery in the early morning hours. After hearing this, we started posting on social media platforms, warning our community and asking for their help in reporting the vehicle.
</div>
<div>After we shared our story, four Riverdale families provided us with footage depicting the criminals attempting to steal from them. The criminals had applied a thin layer of spray paint to the sides of our van, poorly concealing our bakery’s logos and information. The footage indicated that the criminals would stalk the neighborhoods from 1am-4am.

<div>Then to our horror, on February 21st, we were notified that our van had been used in a high-speed police chase. The men drove our van through Montgomery and Frederick counties, evading police at speeds up to 100 mph. The driver intentionally rammed a vehicle at a red light, hospitalizing two innocent people.

<div>The police found four men in the van. The driver was arrested just last February for a similar crime: he was driving a stolen car, evading police in a high-speed chase, and when they caught him, they found a loaded firearm in the vehicle and a large quantity of methamphetamine.

<div>A few days later, we were able to see our van. When we opened it up, we were overwhelmed with a potent mix of body odor and noxious drugs, somehow lingering after several days. Weapons and dirty blankets littered the interior of the van and gray spray paint covered our bakery’s colorful logo, symbolizing exactly what these men did to our family. We have spent decades investing everything in our business only to have our hard-earned goods stolen from us and covered in gray spray paint.

<div>We are in the process of determining if our van is still salvageable. We just finished paying it off four months ago and our insurance has stated that it will not cover any of the damage because it was the result of vandalism. In addition to the repair expenses, we must bear the burden of paying for the time the police spent investigating it at the towing site and, since it now does not run, for a towing service to our home.
</div>

<div>This cargo van is instrumental for our small business. We need it to deliver products and transport supplies. But instead of that, men stole it, crudely painted over it, abused drugs in it, and used it to put innocent people in the hospital. We are continuing to suffer great injustice at the hands of the criminals who stole our van.
</div>
