West Vancouver Otters Swim Club Starting Blocks

The West Vancouver Otters Swim Club is holding a fundraiser to purchase new starting blocks at the West Vancouver Otters swim club. The blocks are old and unsafe. Please watch the video to see what they look like. Compared to the starting blocks that you see at other pools and at higher-level competitions, they are clearly outdated. The blocks do not have any support for the swimmers to brace their feet against to push off from. This could be dangerous for younger children in case a child slips. The blocks are also three inches higher than the official starting blocks at the Olympics. It's incredibly difficult for the kids to learn how to push off and start properly with these blocks and the Club is looking for some financial assistance from its members to purchase new starting blocks.

The Club has asked the community centre to pay for new blocks to no avail. They said that if we were interested in new blocks, the West Vancouver Otters Swim Club would have to pay for them, therefore we are looking to raise $25,000 to purchase six new starting blocks to kickstart this new season.
