Otter the Pup

Donation protected
For the past 6 weeks, Erin and Dan's sweet pup Otter has undergone some scary and uncertain health issues. Let's do what we can to help support them through this stressful time.

There are many bills for Otter's care - tests, scans, biopsies, medication, overnight stays and emergency room visits. All funds raised will go directly to Otter's remaining balance at WSU  - and also includes the 2.9% given to the Go Fund Me platform. Thanks so much everyone! Otter has received great care at WSU  (and from Er +Dan) and is getting stronger every day and hopefully on the upswing!

Backstory -

When Erin and Dan first brought Otter to the vet in May, he was acting very sluggish, not eating and lacked his normal 4-year-old puppy excitement  - he was diagnosed with Lyme Disease. They started him on strong antibiotics, but that made him feel worse - Otter started bleeding from his nose and hardly moving. Erin and Dan took him to the WSU Animal Emergency Room right away where they found out it wasn't actually Lyme so they needed to do a body scan and biopsy to figure out what could be happening. Results were inconclusive.

Otter's condition continued to get worse,  so after more meds/overnight observations/trying different things the last resort was a 6-hour surgery to try and find what was making him so sick. They discovered lots of  infected tissue in Otter which they successfully removed, and then kept Otter for 4 nights in the ICU. He got to go home last week with drains and meds. Things were getting better, but he had a minor set back a few days ago - another visit to the ER for a drain infection and a pneumonia diagnosis. Now Otter is home healing, eating and getting stronger every day.

Erin, Dan and the amazing doctors at the ER have been making quick and crucial decisions to figure out what has been going on - and it finally feels like things are looking up for Otter.  We are all hopeful Otter is in the clear and can continue to heal and get back to normal! Thanks for your support!
