Otila's Medical Insurance & Bills

At the end of September 2019 two mass/cysts were found around my ovaries and one was invading my stomach. Pushing my organ so much that my appetite & eating got very low.  Having no health insurance, Wes had taken me to the ER.  Thanks to the Halifax Health Patient Assistance I was able to get a referral for a free 1st visit to specialists. I went to see Dr. Faust (obgyn) who ultimately referred me to Dr. Molpus (gyn oncologist). Due to the size of the cyst/mass/tumor attached to one ovary, I was advised to have a full hysterectomy which included the removal of the masses. Surgery was on Nov 18th, with a total of 9 days I spent at the hospital. I stayed 2 weeks (Thanksgiving) for recovery at my parents house. The larger mass removed was 19cm & there they found cancer cells, biopsies taken around the body were negative.  In follow up I was advised to have 6-8 Chemo treatments, which I  started on Dec 26th.

The hospital program is covering my medical bills until the end of 2019. I signed up for medical insurance through the gov't marketplace effective for Jan 2020, but the cost is high and co-pay low. I can only get new medical approvals for treatments if I hold a policy because I am out of the critical pre-surgey state. Medical costs are astronomical - One week prior to chemo, I had surgery to install a port in my chest which was said to be $20,000+??

I have been out of work for 6wks and supplemental ins has not fully kicked in.  This gofundme is to make sure I can pay my premium for 2 months while I get myself back into working & while getting chemo every 21 days.

This gofundme amount will pay for the first month of health insurance. It will ensure my continued treatments & doctors visits after the New Year.

I will get back to work & get strong again, I just need a little help. I appreciate everyone for their support over the past 2 months!
