Otey wants to smile on the Trail

~Retired early as a sled dog racer
~Given to me to save my pug's grieving heart from the loss of his brother (Dexter, Otey and me at Paulina Falls pic!)
~Look up the word "sweet" and you will see a picture of Otey
~Born to run and enjoy nature, Otey is an Alaskan Husky, with Siberian Husky and Alaskan Malamute
~Otey needs a surgery called "Tight rope" repair. The cruciate ligament tore (equivalent to the ACL in the knee) This surgery sutures the ligament and area and additionally adds a Fiber Tape to the area, to give extra support and making a longer lasting bond than just suturing
~Sled dogs don't sit - they run, walk or curl up. "Sit" has never been something Otey has needed or used
~Statistics give the 2nd knee 6-9 months before going if the 1st knee is not repaired
~Otey weighs 70 pounds and the fact that he does not sit to give relief to his other hind leg strains it even more
~An attempt at the "Conservative Maintenance" plan (no surgery) seems to be straining the 2nd leg, fatiguing him with any walking and is not appearing to give him any relief
~Dr Pickering knows my life as a Dog Mom, knew all of My Boys and feels with Otey's age, great health, lifestyle and companion Boy walks on casual trails, the surgery will be an extension of his quality of life by years, protect his second leg and he feels very positive about a higher percentage of success with the surgery outcome for Otey
~Otey is one of those dogs you see on the trail SMILING and wagging his tail. He dances with his front paws when he hears his collar!
~I want to see Otey smile again. He's got many years ahead and I want to help his quality of life for all of them
~The Tight Rope surgery is $2300 (to reconstruct the knee completely is $4500)
~I have much gratitude right now for you listening to Otey's story
~I am humbly seeking funds for the total amount
~If funds do not cover surgery, all donations will go to Otey's quality of life - car ramp, ortho braces, supplements, vet checks, rx drugs for pain
~If funds exceed the Tight Rope surgery amount the balance will go to the above, or, if they meet the reconstructive fee, Otey will have a new knee
