Baby Ava was born sixteen weeks early and is fighting very hard for her life. Her family - my dear friends, Brenna Goodpasture & Tina Schmidt - are spending every minute they can by her side. She was born on March 5, 2015 in Joplin, MO, and it has been a rollercoaster ride for her from day one. Weighing only 1lb, 8 oz, and just 12 inches long, Ava is a miracle baby. She has been diagnosed with a grade three brain bleed, and is facing severe intestinal issues. Her breathing is controlled by a ventilator.
On March 12th, the NICU doctors made the decision to move Ava to the Children's Mercy Hospital of Kansas City. So, Ava and her mother made the risky, but necessary med flight to KC. Ava will be in the Kansas City NICU until she is released to go home, which will likely be four to five months. Luckily, her mother and grandmother will be staying in the Ronald McDonald House.
Unfortuantely, there are SO many expenses that are not covered right now. Back home, in Joplin, there are bills to pay. Life's expenses have not stopped, and Ava's mother and grandmother need all the help they can get. Brenna, the mother, is young and still needs all of her baby's supplies. Tina must stay with Brenna at the Ronald McDonald House in KC and will be unable to work during these next several months. Every dollar donated will cover their costs while they journey through this desperate time, and your help will be so greatly appreciated.
