Osiris The Greyhound's Medical Bill

Donation protected
This is a Fundraiser for Osiris.  He is a retired racing Greyhound formerly WW Jubilant who raced in West Virgina for 3 years before retiring to my couch.

Osiris, my best bud and roommate, this week started having some gastric distress.  He quickly went from my wonderful walking partner, circle spinning door greeter, and lamb and rice obsessed Retiree to a lethargic, barely head raised, cute lump on my couch.  Of course everything fell in to place to be a perfect disaster of circumstances.  It was Thanksgiving and my regular vet just a couple blocks over is closed and I can't get in touch with anyone, so I am forced to go to the 24 hr ER Vet.   Of course I love my boy to death and he deserves the opportunity at a long life that isn't cut short by a solvable problem, so I start signing these documents.  Page after page, we are now in the thousands of dollars just for he ER visit.   They start out tell me he has cancer, this breaks me.  I am now sitting all alone in my apartment not knowing how to proceed.   I already just emptied my coffers plus some.  What am I going to do?  Then comes the phone call the next morning to some relief, but we are not anywhere close to out of the woods.  He doesn't have cancer, but requires immediate surgery to correct a blockage in his intestines from most likely some sort of foreign object.
After being quoted upwards of nearly $6000 for the life saving procedure with no option of payments plans, I melted into a ball on my couch wrapped up in my beautiful greyhounds blanket.  Not knowing how to proceed I reached out to the people who helped me get my lazy day buddy.   With so much shame in my mind and heart that I could barely make the call to Joe of Race Place Retire Greyhound Adoption.  He immediately calmed me down and started a phone chain to get Osiris help and within 30 minutes on Thanksgiving Day, I have the groups vet Dr. Moore of Moore Animal Hospital in Franklin OH, in contact with me and the ER arranging everything needed to take care of my boy.  I am beyond blessed and my thanks could never be enough to convey the gratitude to these angels for everything they have done.

Fortunately I have already had a major outpouring of love from two friends who drove up from Atlanta and Knoxville to spend Thanksgiving with me, John and Robin Keegan.  Though I still have a significant amount of money to come up with to cover the rest of the expenses for his care he received this week and will be needing over his recovery time.  Unfortunately I am having to ask for help, not something I like to do.

All of the final bills are still in a bit of flux and any extra funds generated from this fund raising will be donated to Race Place Retire Greyhound Adoption to assist with everything they do to get these wonderfully sweet animals into loving homes.  I am beyond thankful for anything you are able to give.

With all the love in my heart and spinning circles,
Matthieu and Osiris
